Raymond The Closer and The Furious 5

 5 TV Shows Or Movies

I Would Love To Write as a Imagined Series

First things first. Out of all the reboots and re imagined TV-Films most are horrible and are garbage.

For every Star Trek and Wonder Years and Star Wars , there all too many TV Shows that are not so much updated as watered down.

In the case of the shows and one film I have listed. I do not want the original shows updated so much as new stories told and in some cases..the titles and foundations can change for the better.

So remember these are my picks for shows that I would acquire rights too, produce and write for tomorrow if I was rich enough to.

5.
BARNEY MILLER

I would call the show
"The 12th Precinct"

The show would take place right in the same place.
The first day would be Barney already retired taking out
Captain Stanely Wojciehowicz
for lunch on his last day at "The Ole One-Two"
Woj had turned down several opportunities to be an Inspector like Lugar and like Barney went on the be.
Woj always considered the 12th his home.
What I will say is that at the end of the episode the bright and cool kind of "Ron Harris" detective
Steve "The Kid" Reese knows that he's going to sit in a Captain's chair. What we find out is that Reese is going to Manhattan  South. And coming in with donuts and home made coffee is the new 12th's Captain...Mrs. Captain Dee Yemana-Miller. No relation to Barney but Nick Yemana's grand daughter.

4.

Twilight Zone

Yeah. I know. Nothing is better than the original.
But!
Sometimes The Original Missed Too...
The Bewitchin Pool? YUCK

And we also learned The TZ works best in a half hour format...the one hour format is garbage.
Listen whether you call it Black Mirror of Twilight Zone 23.
Great Science Fiction has to progress and it's writers should have a platform that can be appreciated.

The New Twilight Zone from the 1980's gave us this short but sweet classic that would have also been great on Serling's follow up NIGHT GALLERY.

3.
ROOM 222

Spoiler Alert: Room 222 has been done over and over and elements borrowed, sampled and stolen.

So my version would be some 222, some Welcome Back Kotter, some Boston Public some A Different world.

If I do it right people would want to teach again, respect teachers and want to go to college.
They would laugh and learn.

2.
FAME

Now when I saw Fame. I do not mean that watered down 80's TV version. I have not seen 10 minutes of any episode.
I mean the gritty, sober but amazing film version.

I would write a rated R series that would make the watchers always remember what 17 feels, sounds and tastes like. Especially when you are struggling to be a voice in this world.

I might write the first season as Freshman Year 1992/2022.
Run two stories set some 200 years apart. Because if you were an adult in the 1990's...you forget that was actually 30 years ago.

1.
SATURDAY MORNING CARTOONS

This would never work but that's why it would.
I would have a 2 block every Saturday/Sunday.
A half hour of new stories featuring Pop Eye, The Jackson 5, Super Man and other Saturday Morning Classics. A Half Hour of new exclusive Saturday Morning Cartoon ideas. A half hour educational show. And end the block with a half hour show like Wonderama where kids get cool gifts and meet cool people who talk about what they were like as kids. And they can send in their video clips.
No one would enjoy the process of making the actual content more than me.
The first 3 years would be Saturday Morning exclusive and some streaming. Year, I would allow after school syndication if the market was there.

Jo Jo Dancer: Your Life Is Calling You

 Respect Due

Spoiler Alert: The Film Jo Jo Dancer Your Life Is Calling You is Richard Pryor's  own personal account of his life experience.

I hear that year after year people want to make a biopic film about Richard Pryor. I have my doubts that it would hit the right notes...the real notes...the emotional notes that Jo Jo Dancer hits.

I have no faith that they want to make a new film for any reason but money.

No film about Pryor can be as profound because in Jo Jo Dancer, Pryor plays opposite himself trying to come to peace with family, life and past mistakes.

In that regard ... "We are all Jo Jo Dancer/Richard Pryor."

As I watch this film which I recall as one of the newer films that I love...two things hit me hard.

One-That such a very short time ago...we could love on Billy Eckstine , Paula Kelly and many of the other actors that have passed away.

Two- I often recall Richard Pryor as giant because of his talent. Jo Jo Dancer remind me of the high high high hurdles of racism he and his generation had to jump so that I could be what I am today.

Jo Jo Dancer: Your Life Is Calling You is free on Tubi TV...

The Noyes Arts Garage Holiday Party on Friday December 9th at 5pm

The Noyes Arts Garage Holiday Party
Friday December 9th, 2022 at 5pm
The Noyes Arts Garage Of Stockton University

For the second straight year Raymond Tyler (who is also The Black Art Matters Curator at The Noyes Arts Garage) is curating
The Noyes Arts Garage Holiday Party.

For several years beloved local business leader and newspaper publisher Earl Harvey curated both the holiday parties at The Noyes Arts Garage and a holiday party at The African American Museum of Philadelphia. Harvey did an amazing job with both events until his death last year.

Earl Harvey with The AC Times at a Holiday Event circa 2015

"Last year was my first time curating the holiday party at The Noyes and Earl's friends and mine both came through for a special evening." Explains Raymond Tyler.

This year should be at least as big with
The Atlantic City Arts Commission hosting their annual party with The Noyes as well as sponsoring an art exhibit.

Also new this year The South Jersey Cultural Alliance will be sponsoring The Artists Market this year.

This year will promise more special guests and surprises.

Keep checking back for more announcements but save the date.

Good Night and Thanks Jesse Powell

It was February 1999 and Jesse Powell's hit slow jam YOU...became a classic.

I cannot count the times I was in close with a sexy young woman with Jesse crooning his intro "YOOOOOOOOOOU."

I would lip sync the words and let Jesse do all the real work.

Over the years as I listened to other 90' classics with some classic sisters....their eyes would light up when Jesse Powell came on.

"You" never failed to make us happy.

Today we are sad that Jesse Powell is no longer with us....but "YOU" I predict will continue to inspire love, babies, heart break and of course making up.

Condolences to his family, friends and fellow fans.
